Spring Cleaning BLOG CANDY!

As promised, here is my SPRING CLEANING Blog Candy giveaway!

I've decided to give away 2 Blog Candy packages - 1 to celebrate my Blog Candy win (thanks to Jacksonbelle!) and the other to celebrate over 2,000 visitors to my blog.

But wait there's a catch - for a chance to win one of these you have to leave me a comment with some Spring Cleaning advice, tips, suggestions or even just encouragement.

I really need to do some Spring Cleaning around the house but I just cannot get myself motivated!

In the first Blog Candy package you will find: 4 acrylic stamp sets from Michales with 2 acrylic blocks (I'm even throwing in an empty CD case to store your stamps!), some card front pieces embossed with Cuttlebug Embossing Folders, some scalloped mats (using square, oval and 2 sizes of round punches) in coordinating colours, and the latest copy of Papercrafts Magazine (April/May - by mistake I bought it twice!)

In the second Blog Candy package you will find: some JUMBO paper clips, a flower punch to make your own gift bookmarks, 5 coasters with precut 4x4 paper to make your own coaster box (like mine), an RSVP pen, and 2 spools of coordinated ribbon for both projects.

I will be doing the random number thing on Tuesday, April 10th and announcing the winner on my blog!
Good luck and thanks in advance for your Spring Cleaning Tips & Advice!

  1. Hey Marie...congrats on the hits...it is nice to see everyone so supportive of each other's sites. Hmm...spring cleaning tips? Mine is to never be afraid to pitch something...if you have not used it lately, you won't and even if you do in the future, you probably won't want what you are hoarding anyway. (I'm a pitcher!)

  3. Well, I have to say that what I do is if I see stuff that I haven't uded in about 6 months to a year, it goes. I figure I haven't used it in that long, I probably don't need it.

  4. Nice blog candy! Spring cleaning tips?? I watch so many of those organizing shows and yet I'm stumped for a tip. I know I am bad for saving things in boxes that are "important" to me and according to these shows it should be on display given the respect it deserves. Also if items are stored away in boxes (unless seasonal clothing or items) it's obvious that they aren't being used and therefore get rid of it. Also store items in the room where they belong or are to be used.

  5. I hate spring cleaning. So, on that note, my best spring cleaning tip is to hire a student!

  6. Hello! I have a great tip for those that have stainless steel appliances. Use baby oil to clean them instead of the expensive s.s. cleaners! I used it and it works great!

  7. When spring cleaning I will make 2 piles. 1 of things that I have used and, 1 of things I haven't used in the past 6 months to a year. The "stuff" in the I haven't used pile get's pitches, or given away and the stuff in the I use pile goes back in clear labled bin's on shelves.

  8. My newest advice for cleaning was to put my blinds in the tub with bleach. I was really hesitant at first. I didn't really scrub. when i removoved them I really wasn't impressed, but as they dried I could see the difference. I feel like I have new blinds again! the strings are white and the slats are brighter! thanks for the chance to win!

  10. Hi Marie,

spring cleaning ?? :),, start in one corner,, set a timer,, say 15 minutes,, we can all stay focused and clean for 15 minutes. start in a corner or a drawer,,, after your timer goes off decide if that is enoungh for one day,, if not,, get yourself a glass of tea or a cup of coffee and set it for 15 minutes,, good ole mind games make you feel less defeated ;)...

  11. Since it is still cold here it,s hard to think of spring cleaning. My advice is to pick a different room each day or week-end.It,s not so overwelming that way.Congrats to your hits.

  12. I always have all of my cleaning supplies in a carry around container so everything is always within reach. And when you dust, start at the top and work down. If I find something that is just collecting dust and I'm now using, it's on the next garage sale! Congrats on your hits ... and thanks for offering the blog candy!

  13. The first thing I like to do when thinking of spring cleaning is to open all the curtains, blinds and open all the windows and doors for a couple hours (has to be nice out like today) and air out the house. It really gets me going, the fresh air! Good luck with your spring cleaning!

  15. Well, my advice on the Spring Cleaning is to get someone else to do it LOL!!

  16. Spring cleaning tips? I always start with the easy things and just go to town. Before I know it, it's done. Opening up the house to start is great too. It does get you motivated!

  17. One tip is to go from room to room with 3 bags; 1 for garbage, 1 for recycle, 1 for give away. Then quickly go through everything in the room, even the closet.

  18. CONGRATULATIONS on the hits!!!
YES, Spring cleaning is good...doing that myself and will be posting some candy sometime this month.

  19. Spring cleaning? Isn't that a bad word? Can't even think of spring cleaning with it snowing outside! Yes, I said SNOW!! Crazy weather. As for cleaning.. don't think i'll be much help with tips. I need to clean too. So I'll be a cheerleader for you!

  20. My tip for spring cleaning is to give every member of the family a big garbage bag and tell them that it must be filled with things to throw/give away by the end of the week. We make it a contest and the winner gets a prize...the one who fills the bag the most wins.

  21. I hate spring cleaning, but thats exactly what I will be doing on my next four days off so just know I'm right there with you. I have to blast my favorite music in order to get my motivated, makes it alot more fun! (is that possible! lol!)

  22. My tip is to use newspaper when cleaning your windows. It will leave no lint or ink and the windows look great!

  23. Hi Marie,
I'm definately not a person who has had alot of success getting rid of things - I'm such a hoarder! But one thing I found that does help. Every time we get a phone call from Big Brothers, or DDA saying that they've got a truck coming around to pick up household items we always say yes. Then it goes on the Calendar. It forces me to go through clothes, stuff in our storage room....anywhere...to find at least a bag of stuff to give away.
    Good luck on your attempts!!!

  24. I get my cleaning tips from the QUEEN OF CLEAN. If she recommends a product, then I know its good and worth the cost. She is a big fan of vinegar (the smell dissipates faster than you think) and a real feather duster, etc. If you have the right products, then you're more in the mood to tackle projects. http://www.queenofclean.com/tips.php

  25. The only way I ever get any cleaning done is with good music on loudly! I tend to get easily distracted, so I try to make a list of things I want to accomplish, then set a timer. When the timer goes off, I can take a break - eat something, stamp, call a friend, check my e-mail, etc.

  26. hmmm Spring cleaning tips ?? Mine would be if you have not used it in awhile ..get rid of it !!! THe way I do my spring cleaning is I open some windows ,turn the cd player on and just go ...I too get easilly distracted and I have a bad habit of starting somewhere and not finishing it ...I always do that .Ill be cleaning one room and then take something to the next room and stay there and clean that one ......WEll i didnt finish any rooms but the house is Half cleaned ......LOL

  27. you can do it!!!! ya I'm not much at spring cleaning I wait till fall! lol! but I will leave ancourements for you!!! go go you can do it!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Not my favorite thing, but Ilke to get it done. I pick a room and work there....try not to spend too much time as you tackle things. And don't keep something because your favorite aunt, mother or sister gave it to you. Not being used and not worth money....get rid of it if you are not using it. Getting rid of clutter will free you! If the phone rings, let the answering machine get it and complete your room. You will feel like a million completing one room! Then tackle the next one.

  29. The thing about spring cleaning is that once it's done, you can stand back and see your accomplishment! Everything sparkles...I choose a small job each month and try to stay ahead of the game all winter so that spring is easier...dream about crafting while you clean... a good way to come up with new ideas and you can always take a minute and make yourself a note!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Spring cleaning??? My only hint is stay focused! Turn the phone off...stay off the computer...and stay away from your stamp studio!!!
If that doesn't work...leave it to fall!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Hmmm you must turn the phone and computer off. I get so side tracked by both of these things it's amazing..........Next after that I have one of the kids hide the remote control..........because it seems as though if I can't surf the net, gab on the phone, I go for the TV, so therefore only the stereo comes on and alas I get something accomplished!!! Have a great one and thanks for sharing all the great blog candy!

  32. Congratulations on the hits!!

  33. YUUK...Spring cleaning is a drag. The yard is even worse than the house. Advice? It doesn't get done by procrastinating. So we have 2 choices. Get started or hire someone. I vote for solution #2:)

  34. Here's my tip...

clean your blinds in your bath tub. Fill it with super hot water, add oxiclean...then let a few of thes blinds soak for an hour or so. So easy...and not too much hassle. (Dry them on the lawn on a nice day.)

Oooh, I really have my eye on those acrylic stamps. My Mike's isn't carrying them...isn't that CRAZY!!

  35. Spring cleaning! What is that? lol My tip is to clean one thing at a time so you don't leave messes here and there.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Well, I don't follow the rule that if 1 item comes into the house, 2 items leaves the house. I usually start with my drawers purging and putting them in order. Next is my closet.

  37. Hi Marie...Decluttering is my biggest challenge. I have just found a fabulous website FLYLady.com which is full of great hints. For me it helps to break down by room and stay focused on 1 particluar project at a time. Make yourself a goal to rid yourself of 1 bag a day.Good Luck and thanks for the great candy offer...Nadine

  38. Flylady.net is the BEST way to get yourself in the routine of cleaning, organizing and decluttering. You won't need to Spring Clean once you get her habits down...in babysteps!! I have been doing it for a month now and my house looks fabulous...not perfect, but ready for guests!!

  39. fun stuff!! TFS! I don't really do spring cleaning.. I'll get into purging moods every few months or so & just start going through stuff that we don't use/need, etc. However, with Spring comes General Conference for our church (every April & October) , so that's normally when we flip the mattresses, check the smoke detector batteries & update our emergency kits

  40. Grear blog candy! My tip is to start early and have a LOT of trash bags ready.

  41. Hi. Just found your blog today. The tips I have (which I should use myself!) are one in, one out. If you haven't used it in a year, toss or give away. If you haven't finished it in a year...you probably aren't going to. Out the door. Put things back in their proper place after you use them. I wish you the very very best in your endeavor. You can do it!

  42. Hello, m'lady!!! My spring cleaning tip is to burn your house down and start over. Oh, I think I am funny...

It's to get rid of everything that you haven't touched in a few months and also to make sure that everything has a home.

  43. The best thing invented for spring cleaning is a wall washer thingy with a telescopic handle! You can reach everything! Just use TSP and water mixture and the wall washer and it takes every ick and grime and dirt and booger off. The best cleaning item ever purchased.

    ReplyDelete
  44. My spring cleaning tip would be to use boxes for sorting...a box for the stuff you'll keep and another for the stuff you'll give to charities.

    ReplyDelete
  45. OMGoodness,

You are much braver than me!! I so need to do this also......

Put on some great music and start slow!!!

    Cheers,

  46. Well...Oprah had an "organizational expert" on a few months ago and he said....take everything out of the room and only put things back in that you need. The rest you give away or pitch. If you would ever see my house you would know that I haven't tried that yet!!!

  47. Hi
I saw this on the View....clean windows with soapy water in a bucket, using the kind of squeegy hand held sponge brush. Soap up window and squeegy off. Windows look great....no need for windex and paper towels!!

  48. Hi Marie .. my springcleaning tip is firstly not to look at the big picture and feel it too overwhelming. Start small - achieve something - maybe choose an area that has been needing your attention some time. You will find by the first spring clean job done you will have a sense of 'job well done' and feel motivated to do another. Play some favourite music too while you clean.
