Happy Easter!

Happy Easter everyone!
My kids are older teens now but I still decorated the mantle and got them a few treats.

Today I saw this house and I thought to myself - THIS is the way to decorate for Easter!

Look at all those Easter eggs on the front lawn!
I wish that I had thought of doing this when the kids were little!!

Until Next Time!

Easter Egg Nest

Don't you just love this little nest I made?

It's not my original idea but after I saw it I just had to make one!

It uses the Sizzix Scallop Circle die but if you don't have that you might be able to improvise with a large Spellbinders Nestibillity Scalloped Circle die.

If you would like to learn how to make one of these click HERE for the video from the super creative Brenda Quintana.

While making my nest I came up with these TIPS for you:
  • To make the "grass" I cut thin strips of scrap cardstock (4 inches long) with scissors and then rolled them around my index finger to curl.
  • When I glued the 1 3/4 inch circle to my scalloped circle I glued it to the bottom of the nest rather than on the top as Brenda shows in the video.
  • After I was finished making the nest I rolled the scalloped edge back so that it was a bit "fluted" rather than straight up.

Happy Easter to YOU!

Do you make cards for Easter?  If so, you better get going on them because Easter is next weekend!

Here are some of my favourite Easter cards that I've made in the past.  I really like these cards because they are so easy to recreate.

This first one is too easy - just punch out coordinating patterned paper using a jumbo oval punch for the eggs, stamp a greeting and tie on some ribbon!

I printed these pages up from Digital paper.

Here's a close up of the "eggs".  I like to use pop dots on some for added interest and dimension.

These next two cards both use Bunny Friends by Penny Black. This is a big stamp - 5 1/4 by 2 1/2 - so these cards are 8 1/2 x 5 1/2.
This background paper is from BoBunny (how fitting) and it's called U BUG ME! DOT (this is the back side pattern). I used Kraft for the card base and Kraft and Certainly Celery for the mats.

Here is a close up of one of the bunnies! I coloured this image in with COPIC markers.

I just love this pinked felt ribbon!  I bought this at a local home decor shop but I've since picked up some Paper Trey Ink felt and scalloped dies to make my own felt ribbon.

For the next version of this stamp I coloured in the pots with Old Olive, Dusty Durango, Crushed Curry, Ruby Red and Brocade Blue markers and then used a watercolour brush on them.

The paper is a retired DSP package from Stampin' Up! called Summer Picnic and the ribbon is a favourite of mine from Stampin' Up! as well (I think there may be some of this ribbon in Chocolate Chip and Riding Hood Red in the Stampin' Up! Clearance Rack for cheap!).

Here's a close up of one of the bunnies!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope seeing these cards gives you some inspiration to make your own Easter cards!

1 stamp 2 looks - Card 2

This is the second card I made using Bunny Friends from Penny Black.
This is also a BIG card 8 1/2 x 5 1/2"
This background paper is from BoBunny (how fitting) and it's called U BUG ME! DOT (this is the back side pattern). I used Kraft for the card base and Kraft and Certainly Celery for the mats.

Check out this pinked felt ribbon!
I picked it up at a local home decor shop in their wrapping section -
you'll be seeing more of this since I just HAD to buy all the colours available!

I stamp 2 looks - Card 1

I had out some of my Easter stamps and decided to use Bunny Friends by Penny Black to make a couple of cards.

This stamp is a fairly big one to use for card making - it's 5 1/4 wide by 2 1/2 tall. So both of my cards ended up being 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 "

For the first card I used the inspiration photo from this weeks' Stampin' Royalty Challenge #9 as a starting off point.

Here is the card I made:

I coloured in the pots with Old Olive, Dusty Durango, Crushed Curry, Ruby Red and Brocade Blue markers and then used a watercolour brush on them.

Stampin' Royalty Challenge #8

This is a quick card I made for the current Stampin' Royalty Blog Challenge.

I recently got Digi-Papers online and thought I'd give them a try. I just printed out what I wanted on my computer printer.

I got the dots and gingham from My Timeless Templates and the pink brocade came from Emily Giovanni's blog. I didn't have any orange paper so I manipulated the colour in Photo Shop to give me the shade I needed to satisfy the challenge.

I punched out the "eggs" using the Stampin' Up! large oval punch. To add some 3D effect to this flat card I used dimensionals under a couple of the eggs.
I couldn't find an Easter greeting that I liked so I used this one but ommitted the chick image using a post it note.
I only inked the part I wanted to stamp!
Hopefully I'll get some more stamping done before Easter but if not -Happy Easter everyone!

Layin' Rubber Ink Design Clique #20

YAY me! I'm 2 for 2!
This week we're using
Grand Bunny Bottoms by Rubbernecker
Here is Tara's card:

Here is my card:

Sorry about the photos - my husband is away and took my camera with him.
I'm using my daughter's camera and I'm not sure how to make it lighter.
It's hard to believe but there is a spot light and 2 OTT lights on this!

Now for the close ups!

This photo shows two different versions of tails for this image.
The top one is done with Liquid Applique and the bottom with White Fun Flock.

Liquid Applique tails - yes I left it overnight but it still came out "bubbly"Fun Flock tails - these feel very soft but they just don't stand out enough.
Happy Easter Everyone!

Layin' Rubber Design Clique #19

Are you sitting down?

I know it's hard to believe because it's been soooo long....
but I am going to participate in this month's Layin' Rubber Inc Design Clique!

So much has been going on that I couldn't keep up with the other 2 girls and had to sit out last month.

BUT now I'm back and here's my card!
This week we are using Faux Easter Bunny from Whipper Snapper
A close up of his "shiny" beak
Can you believe that greeting came from $1.50 bin at Michaels?
Check out that scallop mat layer. That's actually 2 scallop squares put together!

COPICS used: R000, R24, RV11, RV91,Y26, Y28, Y32, YR02, YR04, YR21
