New Loot!

Yesterday I was in Scrap Arts -  my favourite LSS (Local Scrapbooking Store) - and I picked up all of these goodies!

The embossing folders are new from Craft Concepts.  It's an Australian company and they make limited run embossing folders.

I tried them out this morning and they emboss beautifully.  Nice deep and clean embossing!

The stamps are from Autumn Leaves.

Shelley's got a good selection of both right now but they won't last long!

If you're on the North Shore and in the area you should check it out!

Scrap Arts is located at 175 East 3rd St in North Vancouver or call the store today for your scrapbooking needs 604-880-8811.

Thanks for stopping in today!

Why don't you check back with me tomorrow and see what I'm up to?  I've got a surprise coming up.....

Ok so I'm not very good at keeping secrets - I'll just tell you that I've got some BLOG CANDY coming up!!

Saturday & Sunday Shopping - Quickstik

I'm so excited to share with you this tool that I just picked up.

It's a QuickStik!  A precision pick up and placement tool.

Do you have nails like me?

Then you know how hard it is to pick up little bits of paper, bling, brads etc.

If you have the same problem then you might want to check this YOUTUBE Video to see how it works.

Saturday & Sunday Shop - New Stuff = Messy Desk

Warning!

The following photo is not for the faint of heart.

This is my craft desk right now.

I've bought a few things and haven't put them away yet.
Love these 2 Tim Holtz Sizzix dies and Embossing Folders!

I always try to use my new stuff before I put it away but sometimes - when I've been especially "shoppy" - I end up with such a mess that I have no room to use them!

Does this happen to you?  What does your craft desk look like?

BTW if you're wondering why there is a Habitant Pea Soup can on my desk (actually there are a couple of them) - it's because I like to cover them and make them into pen holders.

Check these out:

I picked up a damaged Atlas at the Used Bookstore and used it to cover this one.

This one's not quite finished - it needs "bling"

Also on my desk - well sort of off to the side - is a pile of leftover digital papers that need to be put away too.  I don't often print up an entire sheet of digital paper.  To save on ink I'll just print up what I need - most of the time that's a 1/4 or 1/2 sheet.

What I'm Up To Monday - Looking for Hersey's Nuggets

This week will go by very quickly as it's the last week before the kids go back to school - at least for us it is!

While I'm doing my back-to-school shopping I'm keeping my eyes open for Heshey's Nuggets.

I want to make little mini mailboxes like THESE as Christmas treats and I haven't been able to find the nuggets at my usual shops (I'm in Canada).

The stock guy at the local London Drugs (where I've bought them before) told me he thought that Hersey's had discontinued them - GASP! - and that they were being repackaged differently - YIKES!

ETA 08.30.10: I emailed Hershey and they wrote me back that they still make them and that some stores may only stock them at the holidays.  WHEW!

I hope he is wrong but have you seen the newYork Peppermint patties? What's that about?  How am I going to use them for my papercrafts punch projects now?

Anyway I'll keep looking for them and if you're in Canada and have a "current" source for the nuggets please leave a comment on this post!  Thanks!

In the meantime I've made a couple of the mailboxes using Dove chocolate treats as a substitute.

Check it out!

ETA 08.30.10: Today I checked Shoppers Drug Mart, Walmart, Great Canadian Superstore and Zellers - but no one has nuggets!  The Nugget Hunt continues...

Saturday & Sunday Shop - Chalkboard Decor Elements

I'm always looking for cool and interesting things - aren't we all!

I thought the weekends would be the perfect time to share these with you so stay tuned for more posts on this.

For today's Saturday and Sunday Shop I want to share with you this cool new chalkboard I bought for my craft room.

I've put it up in my craft room/office/den right beside my clock so I can see it when I'm sitting at my computer.

It's a chalkboard Decor Element with a THINGS TO DO overlay in white that I just got from Stampin' Up!

There is also a calendar overlay but I really like this and can't wait to add some THINGS TO DO to it to help me manage my time better!

Click HERE to see all the Decor Elements in the 2010 2011 Definately Decorative line from Stampin' Up!

I also got this Finial Ruler Decor Element to apply to my desk top so I don't have to search for a ruler all the time
That makes 6 Decor Elements in 1 room.  Is that too much?

These pens are hot and so many scrapbooking and stamp stores are now selling them!

It's a good idea to shop around though because the prices have just gone up (orwill be going up) and everyone seems to have a different price/deal!

Local King Card Club

Today was the second Sunday of the month and for me that means Local King Card Club with Lisa (the designer & owner)!!

These are the cards I made.

This is one of those stand up box cards - sorry I don't remember what they're called!

It does fold up flat so that you can fit it in a regular envelope and mail it.

Here's a close up of my snowman -

Lisa loves these little gems and I think we've had one on at least one card we've done at every club get together!

Lisa showed us how to make these little spiders with pipe cleaners (they're from Walmart).
The background is one of her new ones - isn't it cool?

I like the eye in the "or"!
Here's a close up of my spider - I think his eyes are bit funny!

For this card we used the Martha Stewart border punch that embosses.
Lisa shows us how to colour in the stamps with different colours of markers

but mine just turned out "purple"

Blog Candy Time!!

I haven't done any Blog Candy for a while and I thought I would since I have a couple of "extra" items that could use a new home! Yes - shopping without my book again!!

So over the next little while I'll be doing Blog Candy giveaways - no schedule, no plan, no warnings - you'll just have to pop in or subscribe to find out about them.

Many people may ask - What is Blog Candy and why do Bloggers do it?

Blog Candy can be anything that anyone wants to give away.
Some bloggers do this to boost their hits, increase their memberships etc... I don't really see the benefit of that (it's not like I get paid per hit or anything and it's an inflated amount of visitors so not very helpful for traffic monitoring) but I like to do it to reward or "treat" my blog readers who check in with me regularly even though I've not been posting much lately!

So enough chit-chat and on to the CANDY!!!

Here's what's up for grabs:

This is one of the new Cuttlebug embossing folders called Floral Screen.

This giveaway is open to EVERYONE.

Please leave a comment to be entered in my Blog Candy giveaway and tell me where you're from (City, Country you live in now) and also what else besides papercrafts stuff you collect.
The winner will be drawn by random on Sunday, Sept 14th and posted on Monday morning.
Me....I have a bit of a PURSE problem!
I can't help myself...I think that I inherited this from my mom. She used to have matching purses and shoes and sometimes hats in every colour!

While back to school shopping I bought myself 3 new purses -

a Rust one

a RED one

and a HUGE Black Patent Tote!

I know those of you who know me will be scratching their heads and going - What?

Because I usually carry the same black purse around and very rarely change it.

I told you it was a problem....

ps. the purses are not part of the Blog Candy giveaway...

What's New?

Sorry I've been busy this week running the kids around to their various camps but I've got a couple of projects on the go as well as some shopping!

Today I picked up another towel bar from IKEA to put up some more punches and I found the coolest shoe holder at Home Sense to store my growing collection of COPIC marker.

The neat thing is I can roll this up and take them with me if I need to!

Tomorrow UPS is scheduled to deliver my FIRST Stampin' Up! Fall/Winter Catalogue order and then the fun begins!

Please check back next week....

I'll be working on swaps (New Catalogue New Stamps, Christmas cards, Christmas tags) and class samples for 2 upcoming Christmas classes!

Also, I may have some blog candy to offer up. Yes I've been shopping without my book again and ended up with duplicates!

Glue Mix Up!

Thanks to Laurel for pointing out my glue mix up in my Which Glitter? Which Glue? post. I've made the correction but thought I should post separately so that everyone gets the message.

The Delta made glue that I mentioned is called Sobo NOT Sopor. Sorry for that - I guess I should have actually read my bottle when I was typing that post and possibly worn my glasses too!!

Message for Laurel - It was nice seeing you today - I just wanted to tell you that I checked out the NV Michaels and they have it there in aisle 9A!

Cherish the Thought

Today I finally had the opportunity to check out a new little scrapbooking store called Cherish the Thought in Port Moody BC.

I say finally because I've driven past the store at least 3 times during my son's lacrosse season on the way to one arena or another.

I wasn't sure what to expect - I know they had a few things based on their blog info and website photos - but I was blown away to see all the goodies that were stocked in this small store. AND I have to say that I LOVED the way everything was displayed - the use of antique furniture and other "vessels" is very unique and intriguing!

I can't begin to tell you all the cool things I saw because there was just too much for me to take in during my short visit and I'm sorry that I didn't have my camera.

Their selection is quite good with lots of things that every scrapper and cardmaker "needs" and mixed in with a handcrafted gift piece here and there. I wanted to get a little "scrapcatcher" but there were so many cool patterns I couldn't decide which one to buy. I'll have to go back with my girl so she can help me choose!

At the time that I dropped in (mid morning) there was a class running in the back - a HUGS chipboard album that is VERY CUTE!! It was a full house with a varying age range of participants.

When I was checking out my purchases - a few stamps, a couple of the Dreamweaver stencils, some square cut rhinestones in BLACK, and a teflon heat resistant work pad - I was given a reuseable shopping bag, a FREE magazine and Jessie (I know this because of her cute flower name tag!) told me about their membership program. It's a yearly program that allows customers to get store emails and 15% off their purchases!

OutStamp, OutCraft, OutLast...I was also asked to vote on a card displayed on the SURVIVOR board - behind the cash desk. This is their Survivor Port Moody Card Contest where each card is voted on and the one with the lowest votes is voted out leaving the Survivor or winning card. At the end of the 5 weeks the creator of the last card gets a "cherished cheque" and I guess the glory of being the "Survivor". All the cards entered are sold off and the money goes towards local schools art programs. Isn't that a great idea - I'm thinking about what card I'll be submitting for the next challenge!!

So if you're in the Lower Mainland of BC (or visiting) and you're looking for stuff like Dreamweaver stencils, Cornish Heritage Farms stamps, Old Island Stamp Company stamps and funky little embellishments you'll just have to check out Cherish the Thought in Port Moody!

Using my dots...

No I was NOT planning on taking ALL 4000 GLUE DOTS with me to classes and crops....

"How am I going to use these new glue dots?"

The dots in the large dispenser come on a roll just like the small box.

"Where will I store them?"

I plan on keeping the majority of the dots in the big dispenser in my craft room. However, I have a small box in my tool caddy that I'll fill up from the large dispenser.

By the way I also got some foam pop dots and vellum spray to try out....

Glue Dots gone WILD!!!

Last week I ordered some refills for my 3M ATG gun and while doing so I added a package of Glue Dots. I thought it was a good deal when I costed it out so I thought why not.

I admit I have a bit of a perception problem and have trouble visualizing stuff....

So I wasn't really prepared for what arrived on my doorstep today.

Check this out!

Ladies you are looking at a box of 4000 Glue Dots - that is a 12 inch ruler on the box! I won't have to buy Glue Dots again for a LOOOOONG time!

Edited to Add: I've been asked where I got these glue dots from. I'll tell you it was an impulse buy but I thought they were a good deal - $49.50 for a box of 4000!!!
I get them from the same place that I order my ATG refills from:
National Hardware Sales Ltd.
500 Alden Road, Unit 5
Markham, Ontario
L3R 5H5
Toll Free 1-877-877-0873
Tel: 905-513-3994
I should tell you that I get my ATG refills from them for $41.88 (box of 12).
If you call them - tell them Marie in BC says Hello!

Blocks of Any Size!!!

I've resolved my acrylic block issue!

I went to my local glass store (also makes custom screens) and asked them to cut a piece of 12x12 inch plexiglass and then cut that into the sizes I needed.

Although their thickest plexiglass is only 1/4 inch thick it works great for my big Fancy Pants acrylic stamps and all my unmounted wheels.

In total it cost me $12 for the piece and the cutting!
