Custom Thank You Card

My son was in a couple of golf tournaments this past week and he was feeling very nervous and anxious about competing (he's only 15).

One of the pro's at his golf club lent him her Bushnell Ranger Finder.

For those of you that don't know it's kind of like binoculars but with just one scope and it gives the user yardage to the pin so you know which club to use.  Sounds like cheating I know but it's perfectly legal to use!

Here is the Thank You card I made for her.

Let me tell you that it was really quick to put together!

I used scraps and my new Lucky Limeade In Colour marker - the sttamp set is an old SU! one called Back Nine.

Until Next Time!

Cupcakes?

Yesterday  (Wednesday) my daughter had a presentation on MACHU PICCHU for her Comparative Civilizations class.  As part of the presentation each group had to bring something in to share with the class.

So she and her friends made these at my house on Tuesday night:

At first I didn't understand why she would make cupcakes for Machu Picchu - were they made from ancient grains?  No they were confetti cupcakes decorated like Guinea Pigs.

Apparently in Peru there is a dish called CUY which is roasted Guinea Pig.

Surprisingly the cupcakes were a big hit with the class!

Until Next Time!

Stampin' Up! Simply Adorned Charm Bracelet

I've been wanting to make one of these awesome charm bracelets for a while and when I saw that the new Holiday mini had Simply Adorned Baubles in it I just had to order all the parts!

BUT I knew that I wouldn't be putting bits of stamped or patterned paper into it.

I had plans to make a family album charm bracelet.

Looky!

This is my girl Sarah:

My boy Jackson:

My sister Yvonne:

My sister Anita:

My neice Meagan:

My niece Riley:

Now wouldn't this make the perfect gift for yourself, your mother and/or sister(s)!

To make this charm bracelet I ordered:
- 8 inch bracelet (117342),
- 2 of the 5/8 circle charms (117349)
- 1 of the 5/8 square charms (118476)
- new Black Crystal (121011) and Vanilla Pearl (121014).

To cut out the perfect insert shapes I used the 1/2 inch circle punch (119869) and the 1/2 square punch (not SU!)

I'm Backkkkkkkk!

I'm back from vacations (plural since we did 2 different ones back to back) and I'm buried DEEP in dirty laundry! You'd think that with all this laundry that I've have tons of time to stamp - but NO!

There has been NO stamping for Marie today - I've been busy on the phone returning calls and with other household problems!

For the last 2 weeks or so my garage door has been "acting up" and so the repairman was out today.

BUT as Murphy's Law would have it - it works fine while he's here. I'm surprised it actually works consistently that is, right up until he's ready to go. This would be AFTER I've paid him for the service call to do nothing except lubricate my hinges and tighten my nuts (sounds kind of kinky doesn't it?).

Luckily I tried it one more time before he left and sure enough it didn't work. After several more adjustments and attempts to open or close the garage door, the repairman smacks the motor in frustration. Would you believe it started working again? Well it did!

This confirms that there is something wrong with the circuitry inside - maybe from all the vibration? he tells me. Anyway, it will cost $250 to replace that part and another $100 or so for the labour plus he had to order it and then come out again. A new opener installed will cost $450 - sure enough he has one on his truck. Our current opener is only 4 1/2 years old and of course out of warranty!

I'm seriously contemplating installing a new motor myself! Has anyone done that before? My hubby is no help - he's more of a duct tape and WD40 kind of a guy!

I talked to my dad (he lives in another province) and tells me I can do it myself. I'm not so sure so in the meantime there will be some "garage door abuse" going on at my house until we get it fixed!

The other problem that's keeping me from stamping is my wireless modem. It's not working and you'd think the kids were suffering from some kind of terrible disease they were moaning so much. After being away for so long they want to get on and "chat" with their friends. Doesn't anyone use the phone anymore? I guess not! So I spent some of today (when I wasn't in the garage pushing buttons) reconnecting our computers with wires.

Now this I know I can replace myself! It's just a matter of getting out of the garage and out to the store to pick up another one.

Hopefully tomorrow will be a stamping day - I'm about ready to burst will all kinds of ideas that I've been sketching and wait until you see my NEW STAMPS!!!

Check back tomorrow and I'll announce the winner of Card Sketch Challenge #2 and post another challenge!

Thanks for checking in with me...

Time Flies...

I'm sorry to be neglecting my blog lately - my son is in a Lacrosse Tournament this weekend and so I am otherwise occupied. GO THUNDERHAWKS!!!

BUT I have been reading the comments from the Blog Candy post and everyone has offered some great suggestions. It's funny how we are all looking for different things and react differently to what is presented to us!

Please keep those comments coming!

If you'd like to have more chances for this drawing please comment on what TURNS you OFF when you enter an online scrapping/stamping site or walk into a scrapping/stamping retail store.

I'll be making the draw for the CANDY on Sunday night. I'm going to print off the comments and actually cut them up so the MORE you comment the more chances you'll get!

Thanks and keep checking back!

Answers to Banner Questions & Comments

Thanks to everyone who commented to say that they liked my new Banner.

I really like the simple look of it too!

Sarah's initial attempts were very "busy" with lots of graphics and they almost looked like graffiti. They were just too much for me.

After we went over what I wanted again she came up with this one - see below. I liked all of it except for the photos.

Bethany Paul commented: "It's so pretty! What program did she use?"

Well Bethany, she used good old Microsoft Paint to create the banner. It's amazing what you can do with it. SERIOUSLY it was that easy and she had no other choice since we do NOT have Photoshop or Photo Editing programs! But guess what I'm getting her for her birthday next week?

I was lusting after all the nice blog banners and considering paying someone to design one for me. Then I realized that if Sarah could make her own home pages on the computer, inserts for her binders and other projects with the software we had then she could probably pull together something nice for me too.

I think initially it was more difficult to create banners for blogs but then I read on the BLOGSPOT Dashboard Home page that you can now add graphics to your Header. You do this on your Layout screen in Customize/Add and Arrange Page Elements using the Edit feature for the Header. This is the same place that you go to to add blog links, your profile etc..

So I viewed the tutorial and then asked Sarah to use some of her graphics in MS Paint to give it a try.

I asked her specifically to design a rectangular shaped box (long and narrow) in MS Paint and then I just uploaded it.

Kardkrazy & Splashryan both commented and asked whether she did outside work.

Thanks Ladies she was so tickled to read that. She wants to be a graphic artist and is hoping to to do a career day next year with someone we know who is a graphic designer.

If you want to send me an email with some details I can ask her to work on something for you. Now that she's out of school she needs to find constructive things to occupy her time (she got out on Wednesday and has already read 3 books!).

BUT I also encourage you to try this out on your own. If you have MS Paint & use Blogspot then you can cut and paste graphics, photos, scans etc and pull them together in a MS Paint file (jpg) to upload to your blog layout just like I did.

There is one more change to make to the banner and I'm going to attempt it myself -that's to add the wild flowers (seen in the photo banner above) to the bottom of the box again.

New Banner!

I spent some time today working on a new banner with my 14 year old daughter.

She is so computer savvy and is constantly creating graphics for her binder inserts and other assignments.

When I asked her to do a banner for me she had all kinds of ideas and made a banner with a bunch of stuff. I found it too busy -I really wanted a simple banner.

I had to fire her twice before she listened to me and we came up with this.
