Tag Sketch Challenge Tutorial

ETA: I'm sorry about the light in some of these photos. I couldn't find my flip up spot light!
I had a chance to put together this tag for Jen's Tag Sketch Challenge this afternoon.

I decided to kill 3 birds with one stone:

1. I wanted to make this tag for the Sketch Challenge.

2. I wanted to add another tutorial to my blog.

3. I needed a hostess gift for my K2000 Mom's Dinner tonight.

Before I start this I want to say that I am really trying to make an effort to use up my stuff. I recently went through all of my scrap keepers and collected all of my scrap patterned pieces in one keeper.

I had an idea of what I wanted to make for this challenge so I raided my scrap keeper.

I started off by making the base out of Basic Black cardstock (I had some extra quarter sheets already cut up from a swap). I then cut a layer piece out of this 7 Gypies Black with white script scrap.

I rounded the top using a very technical piece of equipment - LOL! - I raided my kitchen looking for something to trace that will give me the curve that I need for the top! These plastic ice cream bowls are perfect.

I went through my flower drawer and found these Making Memories white paper flowers with jumbo brads - the red polka dot one was perfect for this project.

I also raided my scrap bin again and found this polka dot strip left over from my Mother's Day projects (paper from Scenic Drive). I thought it would make a nice accent strip.

I found 2 small pieces of black gingham and used glue dots to glue them together on the polka dot strip.

I then found a 2 inch strip of red Bazzills cardstock and cut it to 8 inches. I used my Scor-Pal to score at 2 inch intervals so that I can have a fold out accent piece.

I wanted to stamp something on the inside of this fold out and so I used my markers to ink up Thanks So Much! from Stampin' Up!s Many Thanks stamp set.

I folded up the red accent piece and attached it to the polka dot strip over the ribbon. I tied the ribbon in a bow - I actually figured out how to tie this so that it hung the right way. Yay me!

I punched a 1/4 inch hole in the top of the curve and added some red organdy ribbon.

Now I knew that I wanted to use this as a wine bottle tag and so I pulled the loop through the hole from the front and then tied a knot with the two ends on the front. I tied another bow and trimmed the ends.

I think it turned out ok. What do you think?
