Taking on some CHALLENGES

This morning I had some time to stamp and so I went looking for some card sketch CHALLENGES.

I found Kimmies challenge and did this card:

I went through some of my scraps and found some paper that coordinated. I used a yellow card base cut to fit a No. 10 envelope, Only Orange matting and accents, and orange gingham ribbon.

For the main image I used a wheel from the new Stampin' Up! Hostess Level 3 set with Only Orange ink.

For the accents I used a chipboard star that I cut with my CRICUT (yes I can cut lightweight chipboard with my Cricut!). I covered the star with Only Orange cardstock and then added some Irridescent Ice embossing powder to it to make it sparkly. I used pop dots to make it POP OUT!

I also outlined the "happy day" from the wheel image with my Versamarker and then added more Irridescent Ice embossing powder. It's very sparkly in person but didn't photograph well.

For the tag I wheeled part of the image, the part that reads "eat cake", on a piece of Only Orange with the same ink, matted it and cut it out.

Here's a close up of the embellishments.

I found Jen's challenge and did this card:

I used Certainly Celery for the card base & accent, some Basic Grey paper for the accent layer, and Blush Blossom for the mat.

I used the Karen Foster 3/4" Alphabet Snap stamps for the "Thanks" and Rivetting for the accent with Certainly Celery ink. I punched out the centre of the Rivetting image and used a pop dot to make it 3D.

I also raided my prima flower stash for the accents at the top left and added some rhinestones for "bling".

While searching for challenges I found Diane's Sunday Challenge but I ran out of time so I'll work on it later today/tomorrow and post it when I get it done.

PS. I also found Beate's Challenge but I did NOT attempt it. I found the round card to be TOO CHALLENGING for me on a Sunday morning!

  4. Well, Marie --you certainly had a productive Sunday! I love both of the cards, thought I'm really partial to that birthday wheel. I love the colors you chose for that card and the glittery chipboard! You've inspired me to use more chipboard on my projects!
