Embossed Tin

When the Stampin' Up! Winter Mini first came out I ordered a tin of Accents and Elements. Inside the tin are some really cool stickers that you can use to embellish your projects. It's such a great idea but what's even better is that they come in this nifty tin that you can reuse for stuff once all the stickers are gone.

I've seen samples where these tins have been covered with paper and made into fold out books inside. I've also seem some other fabulous things you can do to decorate the outside of them. I wanted to give it a try with mine. I'll do the book part later!

Anyway, I tried Heat Embossing with Silver embossing powder on the outside of the tin. I used the fleur-de-lis (spelling?) from SU! Timeworn Trim. I really like the way it turned out but it needed something more so I made a belly band for it. I found a scrap piece of patterned paper (I don't remember who makes it - maybe Basic Grey?) for the band and I used a stamp from SU! Label Classics to make the first/smallest chocolate chip label. After that I just kept layering and trimming until I was satisfied that it was big enough. I used a rub on from Basic Grey to finish it off.

What do you think? It's such a cool idea isn't it - who would have thought to heat emboss on tin! Well it's not my original idea I did see another tin that had been heat embossed and I just had to try it.
