Masculine Card #1

I've got to make a card for my dad's 7oth birthday at the end of this month so I've been playing around with some masculine card ideas.

Here's one I did for the FISHERMAN (which my dad is not). It's a 4x9 card and so it fits in the No 10 envelopes. I'm beginning to like this size card because it gives me more space to work with.

I used Very Vanilla and Sahara Sand cardstock left out from yesterday's card (I told you I was lazy!), Stampin' Up! stamp set It's Your Birthday, the Flannel Plaid background, and retired set Angler, as well as Black and Sahara Sand ink.

I stamped the images on the vanilla paper with black ink and then used my Mega square punch to punch out "snapshots" of each image. I didn't have much room for matting but I felt the images needed something more so I rimmed them in black ink by running the edges through the black ink pad.

I could have stopped there and the card did look alright but I wanted to added a "hint" of background so I added Flannel Plaid stamped in Sahara Sand ink.

I'm going to play around some more until I make the perfect card for my dad.
Keep checking back because I think this week will "Masculine Card Week" for me!
