Stationary Box with Dimensions

I'm finally getting around to deciphering the chicken scratch from this stationary box I made the other day!

This is NOT a photo step-by-step tutorial - although I will share some photos - but rather the dimensions and instructions for putting this box together.

Here is the box top again with some embellishments:

You will need the following supplies:

Paper

- 2 sheets of 8 1/2 x 11 solid coloured cardstock for the "insides" (Very Vanilla used)

- 1 sheet of 12 x 12 solid coloured cardstock for the cover (Old Olive used)

- 1 sheet of 12 x 12 patterned paper accents (Basic Grey PERHAPS used)

Adhesive of your choice - I use my ATG (tape runner gun)

Circle punch of your choice - I used 1 1/4"

30 inch length of ribbon and embellishments as desired.

Make your box "drawers":

Both boxes are cut & assembled the same way - cut the 2 sheets of 8 1/2 x 11 cardstock (Very Vanilla used) to be 10 x 8 1/2.

Score 1 inch on all 4 sides and then score again at 2 inches on all 4 sides.

Cut out the corner notches but leave the outside 1 inch square (cut to an angle) to act as a tab to fold into the box. Fold the scored edges in, punch partial circle notch in the middle of the bottom drawer only and adhere with a strong glue - I use my ATG.

Warning: Punch out the circle notch BEFORE assembling your bottom drawer completely (I learned that the hard way!).

You will end up with a box drawer that is 6 x 4 1/2. Repeat for the other box.

Make your cover:

Cut your 12x12 solid coloured cardstock piece (Old Olive used) to be 6 1/2 x 12. Score on the 12" side at 5" and 7". Next - attach your length of ribbon. Do it NOW! (I say this because I forgot and had to take my box apart to do this part!).

Make your "drawer" slide and side cover for top box:

Both of these pieces are cut and scored the same way. Cut the 12 x 12 piece of DSP (Basic Grey PERHAPS used) into 2 pieces measuring 4 3/8" x 10". Score on the 10" side at 1", 2", 8", 9".

Wrap one piece around the top drawer and adhere (with a 1 inch piece INSIDE the drawer on each side).

Glue the other patterened piece to the bottom of the wrapped top drawer - patterned sides together and having 1" piece as a side and a 1" piece as an anchor to be glued to the bottom of the cover. See photo below:

To Glue inside drawers to Cover:

Align the entire inside assembly to your cover - top drawer glued to bottom drawer slide with bottom drawer inside. Eyeball it or measure first (if you need to) and then add glue to the bottom 1 inch "anchor" pieces on both sides of the bottom drawer slide. Position the inside on the cover again and adhere the entire assembly. I took my bottom drawer out at this point and pressed on the pieces that were now glued to the bottom of the cover.

Attach the lid to the back of the top drawer - be careful not to glue your bottom drawer to the lid!! Or you can leave the cover unattached - that's up to you!

Now your box is ready to embellish as desired and fill!

You should have some leftover pieces of DSP that you can use to make coordinated note cards if you want!

I hope you find the time to make one of thes boxes - they are really nice gift ideas or a class project as part of a SAS or Card Camp!
