I'm in a JAM - Traffic Jam that is!

In an effort to inspire my creativity I was riffling through my "stuff".

Lo and behold what did I find? TWO Cuttlebug Traffic Jam Embossing Folders among other duplicates!

How did this happen? Sometimes I experience episodes of Deja vu but then realize that I'm actually doing things/saying things that I have done/said before. I chalk it up to menopause and my terrible memory or the excitement of actually getting to use my Michael's Coupon on something.

Actually I'm beginning to think it's a family thing - my dad is called "Pete and Repeat" because of this very repetitive trait.

So my forgetfulness is your gain. Today I am posting 2 giveaways.

Leave me a comment here with a suggestion to get my stamping mojo going again.

I'll do the random number thing on Saturday and I'll pick 2 names from the comments. One from those of you that don't have the folder and one from those that do have the folder (you'll get these 6 stamp sets). So please let me know if you have it already or not.

Good luck and I'm anxiously awaiting your suggestions!

Hi. I don't have that embossing folder, but I'm loving those I do have! I get inspiration from you and the other bloggers as well as SCS. But...I also find it helpful to pick a set of stamps or a theme and start walking the paper isles or going through those papers I have on hand. I look for color combinations that "grab" me, hold my stamps up next to the paper and start imagining what I can do with those things. Then I walk the store or go through my supplies and am usually astonished to find many embellishments that are just perfect. I sketch ideas as I think of them, since stamping and card making are on my mind probably 18 hours a day. LOL! I refer to those sketches once I've got the stamps and papers/embellishments chosen and go for it. It may take me a few experiments, but I usually end up with something I like. Good luck!

Wow-you have a lot on your plate right now! Glad you will find some time to have some "you" time. I think that's just what you need!!

How about looking at some fun, colorful blogs to get you going again (they are stamping ones but home design ones) ? I love these to get inspiration on colors, patterns, style:

To get my mojo back I like to check out all the good blogs. I also like to go to my favorite scrapbook store and get new ideas and buy something. Then I always want to go home and use it right away. Hope that helps. I love my cuttlebug but I don't have that folder, so I am keeping my fingers crossed!!

  5. I don't have this embossing folder either and my cuttlebug is on order! I recently had stampers block...traumatizing!!! What helped me get my groove back was literally CASEing! I stamped great projects from other stampers EXACTLY the way they stamped them and eventually I started to tweak them and change them until they looked like a Rhonda Original!! Don't give up hope and good luck!

  6. Hi, great blog candy. I got the cuttlebug for Mother's Day but they didn't have that folder. I don't have the stamps either. Both are great prizes. I get a lot of ideas from SCS gallery and from blogs. A lot of great ideas out there. I take their ideas and change them either by different stamps, paper or embellishments. Hope this helps.

  7. Hi! I don't have those stamps! I never fail to be inspired by the Splitcoast gallery. But I usually just pick a stamp or stamp set, and just start stamping randomly, with no plan. That usually gets me going. Also having a sketch to work from helps.

  8. Hello! I would love that folder! I go through times where I loose my scrapbooking mojo. Those are the times that I collect more stuff. Then all of the sudden, I feel guilty that I got the stuff and didn't use it. So I play around with them a bit and I soon get my creativity back. I also like to do challenges that people post on their blogs to get me into the creative spirit. Thanks!

  9. I do NOT have that particular embossing folder and would LOVE to have it!!!!! When I need inspiration, I check out all the wonderful blogs, like yours!!!

  10. Hey there!
I don't really know if this will help, but I suggest we get together - maybe a crop day at Scrap Arts?? Or just a shopping day - perhaps Michaels and the local scrapping shops over on your side of the bridge??? Not that either of us have a ton of spare time!! And not that I should be spending more money when the new catty is due out soon!!
The candy is great! I have neither!

  11. i don't have a cuttlebug... but i do love those clear stamps! :)

i usually get inspiration from wonderful bogs (like yours!) or sometimes they come from magazines such as real simple where they have a spread with great color combinations or patterns on an ad.

  12. Hi Marie! I would LOVE to win! Here are some suggestions:
When I'm in a funk, I do the following:
-go to my lss...even if I don't buy anything new, I still get inspired by all the cool stuff in the store!
    -Splitcoaststampers colour and sketch challenges
-blog challenges (I post a challenge every Monday!) I also love Di Hickman's sketch challenges
    -magazines

  13. I don't want to cure your habit of buying things you already own! Geesh, you give them away when you do so I think you should keep on doing it!!! tee hee!!!

I don't have that folder yet... but would also love the stamps

tee hee... I'm not greedy LOL!

  14. Well, when I'm in a rut, I'll go and look in back issues of SUp! or CTMH catties...hmmm, that cuttlestuff looks cute...Anyways, you'll either buy new stuff at the store while browsing for ideas, or get online and find old retired stuff!

  15. When I need inspiration, I visit galleries, especially the SCS one...great ideas there!

  16. I love my Cuttlebug and I don't have that folder yet. How about leisurely checking out SCS and/or your favorite blogs while having your favorite beverage and snack. Then grabbing a stamp set and trying one of the challenges. That almost always helps me get back into a creative groove.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Haha! I have the same problem with buying stuff! I sometimes buy things, put them in a drawer and the next time I'm at Michaels or JoAnn, I can't remember if I already bought them. Don't worry, I think there's many out there with the same problem.

As for getting my mojo back. . .hmmm. . .I usually try to do something I never did before. After doing so many cards and the same technique or products, I start to lose my mojo so I'll set a goal of trying something I've never tried before and that usually gets me excited again.

I'll look through different blogs or look through what stamps or paper I have and have not used (you know, the ones that I bought and placed in the drawer and forgotten about) and make something with them. I usually feel revitalized by it.

I already have the embossing folders so I would love to win the stamps! In the past few months I've been buying clear stamps because I've run out of space to buy wood mounted stamps!

  18. Hey Marie! I do lots of different things...surfing blogs, looking at papercraft mags, looking at ads in bigger mags like Vanity Fair but, I find, if I try to organize my DP, I usually find something that just has to be used!

    ReplyDelete
  19. I don't have this embossing folder either! Thanks for offering it. When I'm not in a stamping mood I scroll thru SCS & check out all the neat tutorials, cards, etc. I always find something that gets me started again.

  20. I don't have this embossing folder... I've never seen it at Michael's. It's one I really like though!!

There are a few things that work for me if I'm in a stamping slump... go shopping for stamp supplies, clean and organize my stamp room, or get together with a friend to stamp.

    ReplyDelete
  21. One idea to try for your stampipng slump....make a list of supplies, stamps or tools that you like to use but have not used in a while. Cut your list into strips, throw them into a bucket and draw some out. Use those things to create a card and see what you come up with.

  22. Hi Marie,
When I'm stuck, I like to go through my scraps bag and pick out some DSP and take it from there. That sort of picks my colors and then it reminds me of certain stamps and I let nature take it's course. It hasn't failed me yet. And I get to use my scraps.

  23. Hi there!

I am suggesting the same as many others. Have a look at blogs, they are full of great ideas and soon you'll have an inspiration.

I do not have that cuttlebug thing, but would love those stamps.

Have a great day! And I am sure soon you'll be stamping again...

  24. Marie,
Try those little 3 x 3 cards and do not spend more that 15 minutes on any one card. I did six 3 x 3 and 2 full size cards in less that an hour. Just getting started with the 3 x 3 cards got my creative juices rolling again. Go for it.

  25. I don't think I have that folder. LOL To get your mojo back huh? I picked a pretty piece of paper out yesterday and then picked some embellishments, a stamp set and went from there. But I usually go to Splitcoast and browse a bit.

    ReplyDelete
  26. whenever I feel uninspired, I start browsing galleries and blogs and save pictures of things I like....then I atually print them out. I think it helps to hod something in my hand, it's like osmosis!

    ReplyDelete
  27. how about taking a walk, or relaxing with a home decorating magazine, or just browsing some blogs. There are so many amazing artists out there, (including you) I'm sure you will get your mojo back soon.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I remind myself that it's okay to not stamp for a few days. Rejuvenate. Do other things you enjoy. Eventually, I MAKE myself sit down and stamp. If I'm not feeling creative, I'll just stamp something and color it, maybe a few somethings. Or I'll work on a card for ten minutes (until I get frustrated) and walk away. Sometimes it takes several sittings to get the card done, but that's okay. If I'm in a real funk, I CASE, maybe change a few things. And I don't even have to feel bad about CASEing (a personal feeling), because I use Sunday's Featured Stamper challenge at SCS. Sorry this is such a long comment, and I don't have the CB folder. Thanks for sharing your extra loot.

  32. What can I say besides what has already been suggested? I enjoy the color combos on SCS to get me going again. Sometimes joining a swap helps me to get the juices flowing and crank some out (he he).

    ReplyDelete
  33. i am sure you have heard all the best places to get inspired by, like scs, Papercrafts magazines, go to the craft store, browse bloggerland, use a set that's been put away for a while, but i truly believe you can get inspired again by doing val's little technique challenge on scs by doing some of those little 3x3 warmup cards!! excellent idea, and i am proof that it works!!!

    ReplyDelete
  34. When I'm in a jam, I'll often pick up a handful of scraps and the first stamp set I get my hands on and MAKE myself produce a card with it! Some very interesting color combos and creations come out of it...not all good, but it gets me going!!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Marie, I can't believe you think you've lost your mojo. Everything I've seen is just fantastic! Anyway, If you really think you need help try looking at some stamping magazines or other blogs. I already have that folder but not the stamps...Thanks for the great giveaway....Rita

  36. Oh Marie!! I lose my mojo all the time!! It only takes a quick trip around my house to find it again though! I go around the house and look in my closets and cupboards and find a piece of clothing or linen that inspires me with it's colour or style!! If that fails, I pick up my handy dandy Papercrafts or CK magazine, and I'm set!!!
And OMGoodness, I've been lookin' for that folder everywhere!!! Pick me, pick me!! *giggle*

  37. I lost my mojo a little while ago so I went to SCS and joined a swap! It really helped for now I am making cards for others and want to do a good job. I have no bug and no clear stamps! Sad I know.

  39. Hi Marie,

I sounds like you are VERY busy.... I don't have the folders, I actually have not seen them before!! Can you believe that?!!!

When I need inspiration I love looking at all the blogs out there and I also look through the scrapbooking magazines......

  40. Hi Marie,

You've gotten a lot of great suggestions and I have used a lot of them myself. I tend to do challenges when my mojo is on vacation. And sometimes I make my own challenges for myself -- like I'll challenge myself to use certain scraps or certain colors or a stamp set I haven't used in a while. Another cool thing to do is to CASE a card from the IBC with a different stamp set. Use the same colors and layout, but different stamps. It's fun, and it makes a great sample to show customers the utility of the IBC.

I do not have the CB and only use SU stamps, so if you randomly draw my name please just keep going so that one of the other ladies can enjoy the goodies!

  41. Hi Marie,

Let's see...mojo, well I usually just start stamping and see where it leads but lately I have been trying to do some sketches and that has helped me. I sometimes try to pick one item and design around it...like some cool ribbon or patterned paper.
As for the embossing folder...no I don't have it and would love to get it. Those stamps look great too!!!

  42. Wow. I am getting inspired just reading all the answers you've collected.
    I don't have that cuttlebug folder yet..but I do have a cuttlebug.
When I am in a slump... i find it helps to look at other peoples blogs, Splitcoast, and sometimes just going through my paper or cleaning up my stamproom a little helps...I come across alot of supplies and books I forgot I even bought...Inspired all over again...I don't even bother to completely finish cleaning the room.

  43. Wonderful blog! What I like to do is keep a notebook (several now) that I put my inspiration in. It can be photos cut from magazines, printed off the internet or a card you got in the mail. I love sitting down and paging through my notebooks for inspiration.

  44. Find something to "case" then once you get goin' tweek it just a bit to think outside the box and make it your own original creation.

Oh, and don't forget to have the radio on or your favorite up beat cd!

  45. Sounds like you (and those 2 kids) are having a rough day...hope they get to feeling better soon. I love the pitiful pic:)
I only have 2 Cuttlebug folders so far and would LOVE to win this one since I don't have it. Sounds like you need to enjoy that faux starbucks drink while browsing some blogs - so many good ones that never fail to inspire.

  46. I really like Split Coast website, pick a stamp set you want to use then look at all the examples on the website you will find something to CASE or and idea to use for your own! Hopefully you will be out of your rut soon!

  47. Awesome blog candy! I don't own any CB folders yet but I also am loving all those acrylic stamps. I'm so easy to please. lol

What I find best for getting my mojo working again is browsing blogs, participating on challenges and also galleries. I do agree that www.crafttvweekly.com is a great place to go for inspiration. Also try http://www.fiskarscrafts.com/tv/ for even more inspiration.

  48. If you find your mojo-can I borrow a piece? I am trying to come up with ideas for this contest and hate the fact I am so limited to orange and hot pink papers. and its a daisy again this month. I used all my daisy ideas last month. so I am dragging out all my idea books and flipping instead of cussing at the refs. I think last game, I violated the noise ordinance so it was lucky its been cold and the windows are closed .

  49. Well was just out side and looked around the yard at all the beautiful colors coming out and that is always a great inspiration to me. Think Summer and the new growth of all the new plants and trees. Don't have that Cuttlebug folder and the clear stamp sets look fun. Good luck in getting your mojo back.

    ReplyDelete
  50. NOw, Marie, all you are trying to do offering up that Cuttlebug folder is teasing me to buy a Cuttlebug!!! LOL!
    FABULOUS blog candy!

    ReplyDelete
  51. I don't have a cuttlebug so love the stamp sets. When I draw a creative "blank", I grab a catalog or magazine and look for colors or images I like. Then I go from there. You do great work, get those juices flowing:-)

    ReplyDelete
  52. You are like my neighbor! She is getting into crafting, borrows something of mine, then returns it saying, "oh I realized I had this and never opened it!" haha.

You can bet I wouldn't do something like that! Send anything my way...I don't have any of these goodies!!

    ReplyDelete
  53. When I am stuck I like to peruse my google reader subscriptions and find out what all of the lovely ladies are up to. I find that we are our own greatest motivators ... the wild, stamping bloggers!

    ReplyDelete
  54. When I get in a slump with my stamping, I pick a stamp set I have'nt used much and go to the SCS gallery and look up that set on the gallery. I scroll through all the cards with that set and usually I am motivated by then. I also use stamping magazines to thumb through at times too. Hope that helps!

    ReplyDelete
  55. To get my mojo back I visit the splitcoast stampers site. They have lots of good and simple idea's for cards, scrapbook pages and 3D projects. I also visit blogs and take a trip to the local scrapbooking stores and michaels.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Hey girly thought I'd stop by & see how things were goin' & whoah I almost missed your yummy candy. So how to help those creative juices to flow...we'll I usually go with the easy. I look for a card or project that I have on hand that I really like (mine or someone elses) then I begin to CASE it...usually half way though I start changing it all up & then can usually keep going on more projects after. I find when I am in my biggest slump I just need to work with something...even if it begins as CASEing. Good luck!
Thanks for the yummy candy offer!
    *hugs*

  57. I can only recommend what I do when in a slump. Make myself a nice big cup of coffee or tea, put my feet up (sometimes....if the kids let me!) and start browsing through my older scrapbooking, paper craft magazines and old SU catalogues. It usually sparks my creativity back up again!

    ReplyDelete
  58. I usually surf the blogs and go to splitcoast. then if that doesnt do it I head to the craft store and browse thru some magazines. One thing that really works good for me is to get together with a friend and do one of the many challenges out there
